If I could impose a little on your time to tell you a little of the history of Palmistry, and how relevant it can be in your life today.
Handreading, or Palmistry has been a force in the world since the early dawn of civilisation. The words used to describe the art, such as Cheiromancy, Cheirology, Chiromancy, Chirology, Palm reading, Fortune teller, Fortune telling, Palmistry Reading read like a litany of the mysterious, and the ancient, and, yet they have a great relevance for how we live our lives today.
Palmistry, as it came to be commonly known, has an ancient pedigree.
The reading of character, and the forecasting of a persons future, by the careful study of the lines on the hand, as well as the shape of the hands and fingers originated in India some Three Thousand years ago. and it is in that enlightened country that Palmistry enjoys its greatest favour today. From that country the belief in the importance of Handreading/Palmistry progressed westwards along the famous silk road until it reached Greece around 500BC. Among its most well known devotees in the ancient Graeco/ Roman world were Aristotle and Alexander the great. The emperor Augustus was also an enthusiast.
In the early centuries of the christian church Palmistry was condemmed as "the work of the devil". This was, mainly, because it was not properly understood; besides many of the ancient wisdoms were also castigated because of supposed pagan associations. In the middle ages, and at the time of the rennaisance the art of handreading started to be rehabillitated, and it reached a peak of popularity and acceptance during the later years of the nineteenth century, and throughout the twentieth.
The most renowned practicioner of Palmistry was the Irishman Count Arthur Hamon, better known to the world as Cheiro.
Among his more famous predictions were the exact date of the death of Queen Victoria and the abdication for love of King Edward VIII. His Palmistry Reading also rendered the great american author Mark Twain speechless with amazement, something never done by any other person.
